March 2011 – Good pub awards …

As some of you already know, in March 2011 I will be releasing information about what you all consider to be the best pubs in each town in the UK.
There’s lots of votes and reviews in already, but I thought I’d let you know about the final date for ratings (again!) – it will be the 28th of February.

Recent ‘This site may harm your computer’ notice at pubutopia.com
Hi all,
Last night Google showed the warning notice to visitors from about 23:00.
I was quickly informed of this, and I’ve been working hard to address the issue.
I was not alone, other important (and much bigger!) websites also fell foul to the same issue.
I found the problem to be in the software that was used to serve ads (love ‘em or hate ‘em) on the website, so at around 7:30am this morning I removed all adverts and the software that was delivering them.
As this resolved the problem I then notified Google that the fix was in place, and this evening (around 21:00) they removed the warnings that were displayed to people when visiting the website.
Please note that no data on the site was compromised, and your personal details still remain private.
I do apologise for this, but rest assured, we are now up and running again.

Someone has “borrowed” a PubUtopia.com mug!
As most of you will know, I am currently working out of temporary offices in Preston in a more normal (yeah! right!) job.
My beef today is that we have communal “coffee making facilities” and people sometimes borrow other peoples mugs.
Now I’m not too precious usually, but there are only 2 PubUtopia.com mugs on the entire planet, and mine went missing today!
Upon further (serious) investigation, the culprit was found – and blimey, it was only one of the male receptionists on the service desk!
Rest assured, there will be a full enquiry tomorrow.

New Pubutopia.com “user support system”
Well, it all sounds very grand doesn’t it? A “user support system” – blimey.
But to be honest – I wish I’d have done it sooner!
- Gone is the guilt that resulted in me not being able to track enquiries properly.
- Gone are the delays in support when my inbox got flooded with other more personal emails, and the support request floated downwards.
- Gone is my concern that I have not replied to the valued members soon enough.
Well, I feel much more at ease now that I can support you better.
In the last 2 days since introduction, all support requests have been replied to in a speed that I could only dream of before.
Anyways, thanks for submitting the support requests … I hope you guys and gals feel the benefit too!

New user support system for PubUtopia.com
Hi all,
As promised from my previous blog post yesterday there’s a new system for getting support from me with regards to your usage of PubUtopia.com.
It has been necessary to do this due to my email inbox being unmanageable.
