PubUtopia.com pubs guide – 2011 Good Pub Awards
Hi all,
In March 2011 I will be releasing information about what you all consider to be the best pubs in a succinct bite-size guide for each town in the UK.
There’s loads of votes and reviews in already, but I thought I’d give you heads up about the final date for ratings – it will be the last day in February this year (28th).
So if you’ve not already rated your favourite pub, please feel free to do so.

The PubUtopia.com mug has now been retrieved!
The culprit has now been found and chastised! Though, to be fair, he didn’t know that he was holding one of the sacred mugs (does this remind me of an Indiana Jones movie?)
I should probably state that said person didn’t actually realise the full HUGE monetary value of the mug (it actually cost me £12 to get done! – god bless (not) cafepress!).
Anyways, panic over, my precious drinking vessel has been retrieved!

The day I met Alistair Darling …
Today I happened to be walking though the fair City of Lancaster.
Low and behold, I came across someone I recognised … had I met him in a pub somewhere? He did seem familiar.
Well, blimey it was only Alistair Darling!
Shock it was, and believe me I was very shocked … if you had black eyebrows and grey hair, would you not dye one of them to match? It’s worth a poll!
Anyways, I felt like going up to him and asking some questions, but to be truthful I was a bit put off – maybe it was the fawning bunch of followers that surrounded him, the security guards (that were none too inconspicuous) or the BMW’s and a Merc that were awaiting his tactical plonking of his posterior when he got a bit tired.
Now, I’m not a political kind of guy, I just have an opinion, and I am concerned as to how our supposed government is currently treating the “real” pub trade (I’m talking people here, not corporations), but please don’t let these comments influence you in any way.

Hi one and all,
Woke up, checked the Tinterweb, saw some messages, and blimey it’s my Birthday! (or Beerday as I prefer to call it).
OK, I did know really, had a few scoops last night in my local to celebrate – 4 pints York Brewery Constantine – which I believed replaced Stonewall at the Brewery – and a G&T!
I was going to give you a link to the York Brewery website, but had a look at it and sadly it looks like it’s not been updated for yonks – come one chaps!
Lots of my birthday messages involved going out and having a beer today (surprisingly), but can’t really partake of shenanigans as it’s a school day tomorrow and I don’t want my PHB to have to wake me up if I doze off.
Anyways, thanks for all the Birthday wishes guys and gals, and of course, Cheers!

PS. I have a similar amount of followers/friends on both facebook and Twitter – and in my highly scientific study (via the research method of ‘counting’) I note that I got way more BDay wishes on FB than Twitter! This mind-blowing conclusion is of course expected as facebook nags you that it’s someones BDay and Twitter doesn’t. Yawn…
